Forged from a common heritage, common struggles and a common endeavor, and recognizing that self-respect and self-esteem are important to the development of our people, the Congress of Black Women of Manitoba Inc is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the awareness, education and rights of Black Women and their families in Manitoba. This is done through the delivery of programs and projects, informed by meaningful dialogue and geared to serve the needs, hopes and aspirations of Black Women and their families.
To develop and advocate public policy positions at every level of government that impact Black women, their families and communities.
To engage in research on critical issues uniquely affecting the quality of life of Black women, their families and communities.
To encourage Black women to engage in political education, voter registration, forums and seminars.
Members help The Congress assist Black women all over Manitoba. The Congress relies on the knowledge, skills and experience of each member that creates the community.
Through discipline, collaboration and civility, members work to create space for Black Women to thrive in Manitoba. Members inspire and believe in each other actively working towards shared goals and celebrating successes along the way.
Membership is open to all Black women in Manitoba who are at least sixteen years of age. All members must identify and agree with the aims and objectives of the Congress.
